Wedding Dresses ? Getting the Best for your Budget

 by: Elsie Gilbert

Weddings are a very expensive business and costs can quickly spiral out of control. Most brides want to ensure that they look their best, so it is little wonder that wedding dresses are the one area that seems reliably to run over budget in almost any wedding arrangement.

But, you don?t need to spend a fortune in order to look stunning and to generate admiring glances from all around. Wedding dresses are a matter of very personal choice and it is often the case that imagination can be a much greater asset than pure cash!

Wedding Dresses - Clever (and cheap) Ideas

Most weddings have an underlying theme and wedding dresses should be included within this theme. For example, if you are having a medieval theme, it is possible to choose a darker bodice or even an impressive hairpiece to accentuate an otherwise very plain dress.

As a general rule, wedding dresses do not need to over elaborate. One, well-thought out accessory can be much more effective than a very large and excessive dress. A plain dress is often a lot cheaper and with a little thought, a classic, simple style can actually look more sophisticated. Many brides often change their wedding dresses, before the evening celebrations, as these formal style dresses tend to be cumbersome and heavy.

Doesn?t this seem like a huge waste of money? Why not have two-piece wedding dresses that will allow you to change your skirt for a shorter, lighter version, whilst keeping the shaped bodice as well as any theme that you have developed?

Wedding Dresses ? The Key to Accessorizing

Depending on your body shape and the type of wedding you are creating, different wedding dresses will suit different accessories. For example, if you are considering the traditional tight bodice, tapered in at the waist and flowing freely over the legs, you may like to concentrate on accessorizing your middle with the use of a thin belt. As every bride wants to look her best, accessories should be used to accentuate your assets. By using key accessories, wedding dresses can remain rather plain and simple, meaning that they are not only cheaper, but may actually be usable for other occasions, in the future.

A bride with a fuller waist but an impressive bust may wish to consider wedding dresses that simply skim the middle part of her body and cling to the bust and hip area. In these instances, it is worth drawing attention to your neckline with a large necklace or even a shawl. Take some time to shop around for those finishing touches; sometimes there is nothing better than a pure, single fresh flower, so don?t always assume that expensive is best. Think simple and think classic. Plain wedding dresses can be just as effective as the most sensational designer wedding dresses, if given the personal touch. Above all, your dress is guaranteed to be unique!

Holiday Fashion

This holiday season textures are in. Specifically, lace, velvet, brocade, beads, sequins and furs.

According to December's issue of Vogue magazine, "The new formal party dress drips with drop-dead lace -- and looks best with big-time jewels." This is very exciting news but at the same time can be quite confusing.

How does one mix all these textures and not look like a cheap motel room?

The key style tip to remember here is that your ultimate goal is to maintain your own personal GLAMOUR.

>From slim-fitting just below the knee to a length closer to empire, this season's dresses borrow from victorian and vintage themes.

Jewelry is big here, and though your insticts are telling you to tone down the super fab lace dress with simple jewelry, the trend is the opposite. Instead, think of using jewelry to emphasize your outfit.

If wearing a dress is not your thing, and you'd rather...

Getting Ready: For Women

Most women reading this are thinking that they already know how to get ready for a date, and this is a similar situation. While that?s true, you may want to read this over anyways to make sure that some little details are attended to.

When You?re In The Shower

You will want to take a shower because a bath might make you sleepy for the rest of the evening?and you don?t want that.

Before you get into the shower, make sure that you have a razor, shaving scream, face soap, and anything else that you normally need. With everything on your mind right now, you don?t want to have to keep getting out for things that you have forgotten.

Wash your body very carefully first. You can scrub with one of those poofy sponges and some bath gel for a light, clean scent. You will want to use lukewarm water so that your skin doesn?t dry out too much.

Wash your hair carefully and don?t use too much...

Color Theory for Fashionistias - Three Easy Steps to Perfect Color Every Time

 by: Carrie Johnson

Color is everywhere, in your clothes, in your jewelry. Color is life. Fashion and color coordination can make or break your carefuly planned outfit.

Here's a bit of color theory with a fashionista bent.

Primary colors

These are red, blue and yellow. In theory, you can make any color from these three primaries (except white, which is really an absence of color). In practice, it depends on what red, blue or yellow you start with, but we are not mixing paints here, so just remember that the primary colors are red, blue and yellow. You'll learn why in the next step.

The secondary colors are the colors you get from mixing equal amounts of any two primaries. (If the primaries are pure, mixing all three will give you black.)

The secondaries are purple, orange and green.

Now why do you care?

Well, primaries and...
